The first type of tag is a Single Page Call tag. You can find lots of information about the SPC tag on this site - hopefully, it will answer all your questions about it!

I solved my problem: I had been generating the invocation codes from website > (client's website) > Invocation Code (where it generates a full page of tags: the tag that goes in the head, as well as a tag for each ad zone). For the non-working zones, I instead tried generating code for the non-working zones from zones > (zone name) > Invocation, and that worked. Now my question is: what is the difference between these two different invocation code-generating options? And what is the purpose of each?

I set up OpenX on a client's site. She has two different areas of her site that she wants to put targeted ads on, so I've created a set of (3) zones for each target area. Right now she has three advertisers and all three advertiser banners are linked to all zones. The banners show up just fine for the set of zones on her homepage, but I can't get the banners to show up at all in the set of zones for the second area. I've run through this list (and a bunch of other tips on this site), and just can't seem to get the second set of zones to display banners. Any other ideas for me?

Hi Steve,

Presumably, you've gone through the above process, and your zones all have positive probabilities that sum to 100%, and there is no capping etc. applied to your banners?

Hi seeth,

I would imagine that you would perform the hiding of the link in the status bar using JavaScript. This means that, probably, you will only be trying this for the JavaScript zone tag type?

If so, I think you will need to modify the actual JavaScript zone tag. You could do this directly, with your own external JavaScript file that is included in the HTML; or, if you wanted to dig into the OpenX code, then in OpenX 2.8 at least, the code seems to be in the "adjs.class.php" file of the openXInvocationTags plugin.

I have 6 zones. I have 8 advertisers. I have all 8 advertisers linked to the 6 zones. Here in the last week or so, on page refreshes or change, some of the zones are blank. Sometimes it's 3 or 4 of the zones are empty. Always a random zone and random ad. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Ben,

It could be an installation bug, certainly, but other reasons I can think of that may result in "broken" cache files giving an empty OX variable are:

1. The zone tag was called at a time when there were no banners linked to the zone, and that value has now been cached (for 20 minutes, by default); and

2. The zone tag was called at a time of unusual database load, and there were no MySQL connections available for OpenX to retrieve the zone data, and that values has now been cached (again, for 20 minutes by default).
